The Department of Health and Caring Sciences is now seeking a researcher for the EU Horizon Europe project WELL-CARE within the research group care, carers, and caring, which is a research branch of the National Competence Centre for Relatives – Nka. Professor Elizabeth Hanson is the PI and coordinator for WELL-CARE. The research group is led by Professor Elizabeth Hanson and includes two associate professors, four PhD researchers, and three doctoral students.
The EU project “WELL-CARE Investing in the mental wellbeing and resilience of long-term care (LTC) workers and informal carers through the identification, evaluation and promotion of good practices across Europe” has the following project goals:
- to review, organize, and make available evidence and data on how to best support resilience and mental health and wellbeing among staff in the disability and elderly care sectors and relatives providing care and support to a loved one;
- to identify, evaluate, and promote the implementation of existing solutions and prototypes for staff providing care and support to a loved one within the framework of participatory research;
- to develop and promote evidence-based and action-oriented recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders.
The project consists of 15 partners, one research center, and one relative organization in five countries: Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, and Sweden, as well as one university in the USA and four EU-wide organizations. In Sweden, three municipalities, Kalmar, Eskilstuna, and Borås, participate in the practice-oriented research.
Location: Kalmar or Växjö.
Employment scope and duration: Permanent position 100%.
Start date: by agreement. A six-month probationary period applies.
Job Description
The applicant will participate in the research within the EU project WELL-CARE. The project involves collaborating with researchers, decision-makers, practitioners, relatives, care recipients, and non-profit organizations to implement the project, document, and publish results in the form of project reports (deliverables), policy recommendations, scientific, and popular science articles. Most of the research will be conducted remotely with data collection in the three participating municipalities, Kalmar, Eskilstuna, and Borås.
The project has been ongoing for two years and is now transitioning into practice-oriented research focusing on the development and implementation of evaluations of prototypes/interventions based on the needs and wishes of the three Swedish municipalities in the disability and elderly care sectors. The research during the first two years has involved developing foundational materials for this practice-oriented part of the project. The main activities and tasks for the researcher in the coming years will involve participating in the following two work packages.
- Develop resources, prototypes, and ecosystems to contribute to increased resilience and mental health and wellbeing by participating in project-wide workshops, developing a framework for multiple evaluations, and creating local implementation teams at the Swedish implementation partners.
- Assist in the work with the National Blended Learning Network (BLN), which consists of participants representing the project's various stakeholders, planning, preparing materials for BLN meetings, conducting, coordinating, and documenting the meetings in the BLN.
Eligibility Requirements
- Doctoral education in a subject relevant to the implementation of the research, such as health sciences, caring sciences, social work, political science, sociology.
Meritorious
- Excellent knowledge, skills, and education in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swedish.
- Good interpersonal skills; building and maintaining relationships is essential given the project's focus and the structure of the research consortium.
- Good teaching and mentoring skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Experience in research related to the project areas.
- Experience working in externally funded research and development projects at regional, national, and international levels, particularly research in the field of long-term care as well as theoretical review and analysis of documentation regarding policy and research.
- Knowledge and experience of research ethics and data management.
Assessment Criteria
Particular emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and how the applicant's experience and competence are assessed to complement the research team and strengthen the research project.
In the overall assessment of competence, particular emphasis will be placed on the applicant's potential for a successful career as a researcher who can contribute to the development of future care and support for relatives.
